Over 400 visitors were able to take part in the Heritage Open Day on 9th September 2006 to celebrate the reopening of St James Warter after its successful restoration by Quibells was achieved ahead of schedule.
There was something for everyone from violin playing by Chris Jackeon, to the enthusiastic talks from Phil Thomas, to East Riding Artists working in the churchyard, to children signing stained glass windows and a display of children's art work from St James C of E School, Warter.
At 2pm the church was officially opened by Hilary Saynor, chairman of East Riding County Council and a great champion of culture and heritage.
David Neave, chairman of the Yorkshire Wolds Preservation Trust, said this was the culmination of ten years of hard work from the trustees to gain grants from Heritage Lottery and LEADER+ to ensure the church can now be used fully.
