Delegates at our Winter Conference in December, enjoyed a fascinating talk by Pat McLaughlin of the Rotherham Church Tourism Initiative. As he has proved so popular at previous events, Pat seemed the obvious choice to speak on "Architectural History for Beginners", and we weren't disappointed.

Pat McLaughlinDespite having to stop and fix a puncture on his way to the conference, Pat arrived just in the nick of time and was still able to give a thoroughly entertaining and informative talk. Many of the audience also found the content and the accompanying information pack extremely useful for their own church wardens and welcomers.

Conference delegates tucking in to a delicious lunchA delicious lunch was provided by our hosts The Bell Hotel, Driffield and afterwards we all processed to All Saints Church, where Rev'd Mike Smith gave a very amusing talk on the church's architecture and history. A good look round at the many fascinating features of the church, putting our new found knowledge and skills into practice provided a very interesting end to the day and we all went our separate ways.

Even Pat McLaughlin took the opportunity to visit St Andrew Bainton on his way home and is looking forward to a return to Driffield with his camera! All in all then, it was a very successful day
